About Us

A Century of Independent Reporting

Aegis Tribune was founded in 1924 with a single conviction: that an informed public is a free public. A hundred years later, that conviction still anchors every story we publish.

We are an independent newsroom covering technology, entertainment, finance and gaming — four of the forces most rapidly reshaping how people live, work and make decisions. We are not owned by a platform, a political party or a holding company. Our reporting is answerable to our readers first, and our revenue model is disclosed in full in our Privacy Policy.

Our Mission

Aegis Tribune exists to give readers clarity in a complex world. That mission has three parts. First, we report stories that matter with rigor and context — not the fastest headline, but the most complete one. Second, we separate reporting from opinion clearly and visibly, so readers always know which is which. Third, we correct ourselves when we are wrong, promptly and in public, because accountability is the only credential a newsroom can earn that it cannot simply claim.

Every article we publish is original work, written by named journalists and reviewed against our editorial standards before it appears. We do not publish automated content farms, and we do not republish press releases as though they were our own reporting.

Editorial Standards

Our standards govern how we gather, verify and present information. They are reviewed annually by the editorial board.

  • Originality. All reporting is written from primary research, interviews and verified sources. We do not copy or lightly paraphrase other publications. Every article carries a dated Sources & References block so readers can evaluate the underlying material themselves.
  • Sourcing and attribution. We name our sources wherever possible and label them by type — Official, Research, Media or Analysis — so readers can weigh them appropriately. When a source cannot be named for safety or confidentiality reasons, we explain why.
  • Fact-checking. Claims of fact are checked against at least two independent sources before publication. Data points are traced to their origin and linked. If a figure is contested, we report the range of credible estimates rather than a single convenient number.
  • Separation of news and opinion. News articles are labeled as reporting; opinion pieces are labeled as opinion and carry a byline and a stated perspective. Opinion never presents itself as fact.
  • Corrections. Errors are fixed as soon as they are confirmed, and the correction is noted at the foot of the article with the date and a short explanation of what changed.
  • Independence from advertisers. Advertising and sponsorship have no influence over editorial content. Sponsors cannot review or approve articles. Our advertising policy is disclosed in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Our Newsroom

Aegis Tribune's desk is organized by the four sections we cover, each led by a section editor who is responsible for the accuracy and fairness of everything published under that section's banner.

  • Technology — on-device intelligence, semiconductors, security, networks and the infrastructure behind modern computing.
  • Entertainment — streaming, film, music, live performance and the creator economy.
  • Finance — markets, monetary policy, housing, energy transition and personal finance. (Finance is a Your-Money-Your-Life topic; our finance desk carries a disclaimer on every article.)
  • Gaming — the games industry, hardware, esports and game preservation.

Our reporters are named on every article, with a short biography and role. We believe byline accountability is the simplest and most effective check on quality: if a reader cannot tell who wrote a story, the story should not have been written.

Careers

We hire reporters and editors who can write clearly, think independently and verify relentlessly. We are an equal-opportunity employer and we do not require a journalism degree — demonstrated reporting skill matters more to us than credentials. Open positions are listed below when available; we also accept speculative applications from experienced journalists.

To apply, send a cover letter, three published clips and a 400-word original sample on a topic in your chosen section to [email protected]. We read every application, though it may take us a few weeks to respond.

Ownership and Funding

Aegis Tribune is owned by Aegis Tribune Media Group, a privately held company with no majority shareholder and no political-party ownership. We are funded by a combination of reader subscriptions and display advertising, including programmatic advertising served through Google AdSense and similar networks. No advertiser has access to our editorial calendar or article drafts.

Questions about our ownership, funding or editorial independence can be directed to our editor at [email protected]. We answer them in writing.
