How Aegis Tribune collects, uses and protects your personal data — including cookies, Google AdSense and third-party advertising.

Last updated: July 18, 2026  |  Effective: July 18, 2026

Aegis Tribune Media Group ("Aegis Tribune," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website AegisTribune.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. This policy applies to all visitors and is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable data-protection laws.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

When you use our contact form, subscribe to our newsletter, or send us a tip, you may provide your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We use this information to respond to your inquiry and, where you have consented, to send you our newsletter.

1.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our servers and third-party tools automatically collect certain technical data, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring URL, pages visited, time spent on pages, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This data is processed in pseudonymized form for analytics.

1.3 Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar storage technologies (local storage) for the purposes described in Section 4 below.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain and improve the Site and our reporting;
  • Respond to your inquiries, tips and correction requests;
  • Deliver our newsletter where you have subscribed (you may unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email);
  • Measure and analyze traffic and reader behavior to understand which stories resonate;
  • Serve and measure advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted by law;
  • Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and security issues;
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for cookies, personalized advertising, and marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — for analytics, security, and the basic operation of the Site, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data by law.

4. Cookies and Advertising

We use the following categories of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required for the Site to function (for example, remembering your light/dark theme preference and reading progress). These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies — used by our privacy-first analytics provider (Plausible) to measure aggregate traffic. Plausible does not use cross-site tracking or personally identify visitors.
  • Advertising cookies — used by Google AdSense and other advertising partners to display and measure ads, and to personalize ads where you have not opted out.

4.1 Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising

We participate in Google AdSense, which is a third-party vendor that uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and other sites on the Internet.

  • Google may use the DoubleClick DART cookie to serve ads based on your visits to AegisTribune.com and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by its advertising privacy policy.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out, or, in the EEA/UK, through the Your Online Choices portal.
  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our Site. Such vendors' use of cookies is subject to their own privacy policies.

Other third-party advertising networks and ad exchanges may also serve ads on the Site. Each operates under its own privacy policy and provides its own opt-out mechanism.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who process data on our behalf (analytics, email delivery, hosting), under written contracts that require them to protect the data and use it only for our instructions;
  • Advertising partners as described in Section 4;
  • Legal authorities where required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect our rights and safety.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

  • Access and portability — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, in a portable format.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Objection and restriction — object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Opt-out of sale or sharing (CCPA) — we do not sell personal data; you may also opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising via the links in Section 4.1.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy or as required by law. Analytics data is retained in aggregate, pseudonymized form for up to 25 months. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe, plus a short period for record-keeping.

8. Security

We use HTTPS (TLS encryption) across the entire Site and take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will provide a more prominent notice (for example, on the homepage or by email to subscribers).
